Now that we have looked at the different Scopes. To make this Schmidt and Bender Klassik Review very helpful its also important to look at the different operational guidelines.

Schmidt and Bender Klassik Operation

Image focus Adjustment using the diopter adjustment of the eyepiece

Image focus Adjustment using the diopter adjustment of the eyepiece

For adjustment set, the scope to the highest magnification, rotate the eyepiece counterclockwise until it stops. Rotate the eyepiece clockwise until you are able to see a sharp image of the reticle.

Parallax adjustment

The parallax adjustment turret on these scopes has distance engraved markings. If you know the distance to your target, rotate the turret to the corresponding distance marking, so that they line up with the index mark on the saddle. For unknown distances, set the scope to the highest magnification, and move the adjustment ring of the parallax compensation in the direction of the estimated distance until you are able to get a focused image. After doing that you have properly adjusted the parallax and you are able to read the distance on the turret.

Illumination control

Illumination control

The Flash Dot technology on this scopes provides a projected bright red dot and reticle in the second focal plane. The dot is in the center of the reticle and will totally vanish when the scope is switched off. If you want to get the optimal target acquisition is important to set the dot to the specific light condition.

For target acquisition, illumination control is done by turning from -0- toward position -11- until you achieve a setting where the red dot is bright enough to be picked by the eye without glaring. This is best done prior to the actual shooting. If the illumination is not switched off by the shooter after use, it automatically does so after some hours. If there is a blink on the illumination the battery is low.

Changing the battery

Schmidt and Bender Klassik Battery Change

  •  First, screw off the battery cap to remove the old battery
  • Place the new battery (coin cell CR 2032/3V) with the +” facing up
  • Discard the used battery in an ecologically
  • Battery service life is at least 100 hours

Schmidt and Bender Klassik distance estimation using the reticle

The different Klassic scope reticles offer a wide range of ways to estimate or measure using reticle subtensions. These subtenstions make it easy for the shooters to make shoots with great precision even for long distances. The estimates and the ballistic compensator make shots to be precise.

If the reticle is in the first focal plane, it means that the reticle subtensions will remain constant on all magnifications. The shooter can calculate the distance to a target using this formula

𝑑=𝑔/𝑎∗100 𝑚𝑚

𝑑 -distance to the target
𝑔 -the estimated size of the target
𝑎 -size of the target on the reticle pattern

Using Turrets on the Schmidt and Bender Klassik Scope

To use the turrets, remove the caps from the windage and elevation turrets. The adjustment is made easy by the graduation display. The black spot should be positioned under the letter M which means(middle) to ensure that the maximum adjustment range is available on both sides when zeroing in.Adjustments are possible with saddle caps removed.

This Schmidt and Bender Klassik Review will not be complete if we don’t look at the safety and maintenance of Klassic sights.

Safety

  • To prevent eye injuries never look into the sun with the scope
  • Do not tamper with the scope. Maintenance and manual should be done by Schmidt & Bender  specialists authorized by Schmidt & Bender
  • Protect the scope from shocks beyond normal use. Such shocks may occur if the scope drop or is being transported by road in rough terrains
  • Avoid exposing the scope to direct sunlight
  • The scope should be properly mounted to the firearm  for the ultimate performance, maximum accuracy, and efficient functioning

Care and Maintenance

  • Schmidt & Bender Klassik-line scopes have metal parts that are scratch and corrosion hence the scopes do not require any special maintenance
  • When cleaning the outer surfaces always uses a clean cloth and if its really necessary a damp one can be used
  • Before you wipe the surfaces of the sight, use an optics brush to remove dirt or dust particles. The smallest of impurities can be removed using a microfibre cloth.
  • You can also breathe on the optics surface before cleaning as a way to ease the cleaning process. If the dirt is excess use lukewarm water with a soft cloth.
  • To prevent any harm to the external coatings avoid dry rubbing the surfaces
  • The Approved storage temperature is from -55°C to 70°C.

Conclusion

Schmidt and Bender Klassik scopes are high-quality products, with many years of great shooting experience guarantee. Make sure the scope is properly fitted by an expert for optimum performance.
