Features

Thermal Resolution

ATN ThOR 4 640 thermal scope features an Ultra-sensitive Gen 4 Sensor that delivers state-of-the-art image clarity. The high 640×480 resolution paired with the 1280×720 HD display creates a superior edge-to-edge image clarity that’s second to none.

Unlike other thermal scopes that compromise on the image clarity when shooting from a long distance, the high-quality sensor in this thermal scope ensures that the images always stay clear even when shooting from a far distance or when you are zooming in on the target. This thermal scope also provides clear images regardless of the lighting conditions.

Design

This thermal scope features an aluminum alloy construction that is not only durable but also lightweight. The scope’s main tube diameter is 30mm which also enhances strength and durability.

Also included are two straight 30mm Picatinny and cantilever weaver rings for mounting the scope on the rifle. A rotary zoom dial knob located on the left side is used in adjusting the zoom range for accurate focusing. For all-weather reliability, this optic is fully waterproof and fog proof.

Obsidian Core

ATN ThOR 4 640 thermal scope has an Obsidian IV Dual Core T processor with an integral and high speculated system that helps run the sensor with ease.

With such a processor, this optic suppresses the larger files and saves them all in the memory space. Furthermore, the integrated sensor with a core processor provides an easy time when shooting at night or in low light conditions.

Magnification

The versatile zoom range of the ATN ThOR 4 640 thermal scopes is one of the features that make them stand out among other similar products.

Paired with HD lenses, this optic works well in a variety of shooting ranges. The 10x digital zooming range brings far-away targets closer for an accurate shot placement while the zoom wheel being placed on the left side of the scope makes it easier for you to make the adjustments.

The large magnification power provides a wide field of view, so you can clearly and easily identify the targets in your surrounding area.

Display

This thermal scope is equipped with a 1280×720 HD micro display which delivers the highest quality image views. With such an HD display, you get to clearly view the captured images and videos as well. Furthermore, the spectral responsive range of this thermal scope shows every single detail of the images captured.

Eyepiece

ATN ThOR 4 640 has different objective lens diameters 19/25/ 40mm and more. These objective lenses gather adequate light inside the thermal scope to produce bright and clear images regardless of the lighting conditions.

The large-sized objective lens also makes it the ideal thermals scope for long-range shooting.

This thermal scope also features a long eye relief. Such a long eye relief not only boosts the shooter’s confidence but also keeps their eyes safe from injuries that arise from different tactical situations such as heavy recoils.

The long eye relief also provides a wide field of view for comfortable viewing of the targets.

One-Shot Zero

One-shot zero-mode found in this thermal scope enables you to eliminate the difficulties found in sighting a scope. Having this amazing feature enables you to simply take a shot, make amendments to the reticle on where the bullet hit the target, and then save the settings. By doing so, you get to save a lot of time that you could have otherwise spent sighting in the scope every time you make a shot.

Wi-Fi Streaming and Video Recording

You can easily stream your shooting footage and show it off to your family or friends. For your convenience, this thermal scope enables you to stream the footage on both iOS and Android devices. The ATN Obsidian App is remarkably easy to set up and operate, and you can effortlessly adjust the setting of the scope directly from the app. With a simple click of the button, you get to capture all images and record videos as well without the need to go back to the phone’s menu to change the camera or video recording mode.

The thermal scope also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features so you can easily transfer all the images and videos recorded from the scope to other devices. You can also use the USB cable to transfer the same data.

Simple Navigation/Menu System

Hunting beginners will love how user-friendly this thermal scope is. The intuitive menu layout with minimal button inputs needed makes it very easy to navigate through the different functions in this thermal scope.

Additionally, you can also use the ATN Obsidian App to navigate through the system or change settings at the comfort of your phone or tablet.

Recoil Activated Video

With the recoil-activated video feature, this thermal scope starts to record when you take the shot and continues to record a few seconds after. At the end of your shooting activity, you can reply to all your shots and analyze every shot you made.

Smart Rangefinder

With the in-built rangefinder in this scope, you can forget about carrying extra equipment for perfect targeting. The in-built smart rangefinder allows you to focus on a long-range target and then sends data automatically to the ballistic calculator and adjusts the reticle for accurate target acquisition.

Ballistic calculator

The ballistic calculator found in this thermal scope converts environmental data and target information then it will automatically calculate the performance, so you can hit a long-range target accurately. Using a ballistic calculator helps you acquire different targets accurately in all

Battery

ATN ThOR 4 640 uses lithium-ion batteries as its main power source. This battery is rechargeable using a USB cable. When fully charged, this thermal scope provides up to 16 hours of continuous use.

Reticles

ATN ThOR 4 640 has two types of reticles; One-Shot Zero and the smart Mil-Dot reticles. You can easily choose between the two reticle types based on the shooting environment. Furthermore, there are 5 mil dot ranges in the Smart Mil-Dot reticle. These 5 ranges help you focus on the exact distance of the shooting target for accurate shot placement.

The One Shot Zero reticle on the other hand ensures easy targeting without making any adjustments. When using this article, you simply adjust it where you want the bullet to land. This reticle greatly minimizes the time spent while focusing on the intended target.

The keypad in this device is programmed to be used in two ways.

  • Short and quick taps are not only used to get around the menu but also in most of the device’s functions.
  • Press and hold used in turning the device ON/OFF and for the Shortcut menu.
  • You can also use the system menu’s power and function buttons as up and down buttons.
  • Use the scroll wheel to magnify the target during the zero-in process or from the Home screen.

Focusing

Focusing

Use the diopter adjustment to focus on your targets. Rotating the Diopter Adjustment ring provides optimal sharpness for your vision. Use the eyepiece to look through when focusing on the reticle and widgets on the screen. To achieve accurate focus at varying distances, rotate the adjustment ring as required.

Mounting the Scope

Mounting the Scope

Use 30mm mounting rings to mount this thermals scope. Using the L-shaped rings that ATN provides, choose your rings preference and mount the bottom rings portion to your rail, and ensure that the eye relief is adequate. Put the scope on the bottom half rings mounted, making sure that the scope offers sufficient eye relief. Place the other portion of the ring over the mounted bottom portion. Make sure that the holes align and the screws rotate easily. Apply adequate torque to each and every screw using the provided Allen wrench. Ensure that the rings are tight on the rifle rail and will not come out even when subjected to heavy recoil.

When mounting the scope on a Picatinny rail:

  • Make loose the fixing screws on the side of the mounting ring.
  • Put the rifle on the Picatinny rail so that the projection of the rail enters the recess in the rail.
  • Tighten the fixing screws of the mounting rings and make sure that they are tight enough to not come loose due to recoil.

Compass Calibration

Compass Calibration

To calibrate the scope’s compass, rotate the scope on a three-axis rotation. After calibration, the optic will work best when the optic is held parallel to the ground.

Zeroing

To zero in your scope, you should either create a new profile or use one that exists already. However, it is highly recommended to create a new one. Under the profiles or zero category, you’ll find these subcategories; current, other, import from SD, and Export from SD. Pick ‘Other’, where you will find Profile 1, and create a new profile. You can either choose profile 1 and edit it or create a new one and make the necessary changes. After selecting the profile, press the OK button to start loading. The profile will become your profile after it is done loading.

Battery Replacement

After using the thermal scope for a long period of time, the battery wears out and will require replacement. Luckily, you can easily find a replacement battery online or at a local store near you.

Maintenance and Care

Keeping your thermal scope in good shape ensures many years of field use. Make sure that the battery doesn’t come into contact with moisture or it will get damaged.

For the battery to have a long lifespan, always make sure that it is fully charged before you get to use it in the field. Wipe the scope after use and ensure that it’s free of dirt and dust.

Use the cleaning cloth included wiping any dirt on the lens surface. During storage, keep an optic in a safe place, preferably a box or a case that guarantees safety.
