Reticle Focus Adjustment

Reticle Focus Adjustment

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6×24 riflescope uses a fast-focus eyepiece, designed to quickly and easily adjust the focus on the riflescope’s reticle. You can adjust the reticle focus by looking through the riflescope at a blank white wall or up at the sky. Turn the eyepiece focus knob inward until the reticle image is as crisp as possible. You should do this swiftly to avoid having your eye compensate for an out-of-focus reticle.

Variable Power Adjustment

Variable Power Adjustment

To change the magnification, turn the magnification ring up until the desired level.

Windage and Elevation Adjustments

Windage and Elevation Adjustments

The Vortex Strike Eagle incorporates precision finger adjustable elevation and windage dials with audible clicks. You can make adjustments by removing the outer caps the turning the adjustment dial in the appropriate direction either up/down or left/right as indicated by the arrows. Then move the dials in the direction you wish the bullet’s point-of-impact to change.

Illumination Adjustment

This riflescope uses an illuminated reticle to aid in low light performance. There are 11 levels of brightness that vary from bright to very low brightness. You can activate or adjust the illumination by rotating the adjustment dial in either direction.

Parallax Adjustment

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6×24 riflescope is non-adjustable for parallax correction and is set to be parallax-free at 100 yards.

Battery Replacement

The battery is easy to change by unscrewing the outer cap. After removing the battery, replace it with a new CR 2032 battery with numbers facing out. The scope features a windage cap where you can store a spare battery.

Eye Relief and Reticle Alignment

Before tightening the scope ring screws, adjust for maximum eye relief to avoid injury from recoil. Make the adjustment by setting the riflescope to the middle of its magnification range. Slide the riflescope as far forward as possible in the rings then slowly slide the riflescope back towards the shooter’s face while viewing through the riflescope in a normal shooting position. Stop when the full view is visible and without disturbing the front-back placement, rotate the riflescope until the vertical crosshair exactly matches the vertical axis of the rifle. Use a reticle leveling tool, plumb bob, or an adjustable set of feeler gauges placed between a one-piece base and the flat bottom of the riflescope’s center section for this procedure. Once you have aligned the reticle, tighten and torque the ring screws down per the manufacturer’s instructions.

Sighting in

Bore sighting– Initial boresighting of the riflescope can be done using a mechanical or laser bore sighter according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It helps save time and money at the range. Bore sighting can be accomplished by removing the bolt and visually sighting through the barrel. To visually bore sight a rifle; place the rifle solidly on rest and remove the bolt then sight through the bore at a target approximately 50 yards away. Move the rifle and rest until the target is visually centered inside the barrel. You can then make windage and elevation adjustments until the reticle crosshair is also centered over the target.

Range sight-in– once you are done bore-sighting the riflescope, select the exact ammunition you intend to use and go to the range for the final sight-in. Check that the reticle is in focus before use then at your preferred zero distance, fire a three-shot group as precisely as possible and adjust the reticle to match the approximate center of the shot group. If the rifle is solidly mounted and cannot be moved, look through the scope and adjust the reticle until it is centered on the fired group. Carefully fire another three-shot group and see if the bullet group is centered on the bull’s eye. You can make another adjustment to the riflescope and fire another group to verify zero if need be.

Maintenace

Cleaning– the scope is fully waterproof and fog proof and requires very little routine maintenance other than periodically cleaning the exterior lenses. You can easily clean the exterior of the scope by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Make sure to clean the lenses with products that are specifically designed for use on coated optical lenses. You should blow away any dust or grit on the lenses before wiping the surfaces. Isopropyl alcohol can be used to remove marks like fingerprints.

Lubrication– the components of this riflescope are permanently lubricated, hence no additional lubricant should be applied.

Storage– avoid storing your scope in direct sunlight or any very hot location for long periods of time in order to preserve the durability.

Troubleshooting

Most problems you will experience with this scope are sighting-in problems and mount problems. Be sure that the correct base and rings are in the correct orientation and that the base screws and rings are tight. An insufficient windage or elevation adjustment range may indicate problems with the rings, base, base alignment, base mount holes drilled in the rifle’s receiver, or barrel/receiver alignment.

Uses

This Vortex scope can be used for field hunting coyote or practicing out at the range. You can use the ranging feature at the top of the reticle to range a silhouette target up to 600 yds.

Advantages

The scope is backed by an unlimited lifetime warranty

It is fully transferable for the sake of the warranty

No warranty card to fill out

How to avoid problems
